Things to do...

My things to do list is getting RIDONKULOUS!  Currently working on two tops (first time using strict polyester for one--kind of ewww---and silk cotton for the other--a first).  Can someone riddle me this though...who the **bleep bleep** told Vogue/McCalls/Butterick to have a super sale RIGHT NOW???  Seven items added to my summer TTD list...SEVEN!!!

But how could I resist?

Do you see my dilemma?? le sigh.

Thankfully vacation is right around the corner (Saturday to be exact).  All thoughts of sewing will be out that plane window until I return (hopefully Trini tanned--ha ha--- and ready to rock and roll on my machine--poor thing needs a vacation too).

p.s. methinks I need to add some separates to my sewing repertoire. smh

Today's outfit (not my best but keeping my promise)

Not my best but I do love this skirt...we'll pair it with not so frumpy items later this summer.  For now...

Daytime
Frump McGump hahahaha!

Evening dinner

I got sick of the tank and belt so....
A little better...definitely going to do justice to this later this summer

Deets:

Skirt:  DIY maxi--3 yds. serious polyester (I underestimated the shred factor---definitely going to have to hem this bad boy)
Denim jacket: Lane Bryant circa 2000
Sandals: via Grenada (literally)
Bag: Gucci

This was a rough post (looking a bit dusty today).  But I promised myself I'd post the good, the bad and the ugly (note to self: even self-promises should have a "get out" clause).

Yesterday's outfit...

SEVERE wardrobe malfunction...I'm talking about feeling breezes where breezes should NEVER be felt in public (damn 2 year-old leggings).  After scurrying home (thank God I hadn't made it too far in my journey), I threw on the first thing I could grab: my Butterick 3076 pattern (bought for $1.99 at some clearance sale or the other).

I used the front bodice of the blue dress and the back bodice of the white

I was holding on to this dress for when it truly got warm here in NYC but desperate times call for desperate measures (thank goodness for denim jackets and boots).

LOVE IT (minus the puffed eyes--what the heck?!)
Gratuitous bubbies shot---(just joshing...I'm actually showing the neckline adjustment)

I must say blogworld....I L-O-V-E it!!!  Accessories always help but I think this dress is so cute!  I already have 2 more cotton prints in line to make a couple more (first time I've ever repeated anything besides a maxi skirt--who doesn't need 10 of those???)

Wardrobe malfunction gone RIGHT! (hi-5 to me)

Deets:

Pattern: Butterick 3076 (view B)
Material: Grey Cotton (kinda voile-ish, kinda swiss dottish--textured and light)
Adjustments: added a bust dart, changed from high bateau neck to an almost plunging "U-shape" (the girls were suffocating in that original front)
Will the Amazon make this again?: Absofrigginlutely!

hhhh....camera needs

Friends...I've mentioned it before but I have GREAT friends and family.  They support me in all of my 9,000 endeavors.  HOWEVER I HATE imposing on them for Amazon creation picture time.

HARD REALITY: It's time to buy a camera y'all. For REAL for real.  I mean, how many times can I say "can we take it over?" before someone tries to use the camera to photograph my internal organs?  I don't dislike cameras, I'd just rather spend my money on other things: handbags, fabric, credit card bills, handbags...you know?  But since I'm starting to take this sewing thing seriously, I figure I might as well buck up and do the right thing so a camera shopping we shall go.

Alas, one of my handy dandy co-worker buddies suggested the following:

Canon- PowerShot ELPH 300 HS 12.1- Megapixel Digital Camera

OR

Canon- PowerShot ELPH 520 HS 10.1- Megapixel Digital Camera

I love the red one...but umm...mainly because it's red.  I know NOTHING about all the other stuff...just need it to point, shoot, have a timer and come out pretty.  Is that too much to ask?

I'll be making the purchase on Monday so Stay tuned....

Wedding Blues....(ain't so bad) PIC HEAVY

So my BEE-YOU-TEE-FUL older sister from my other mother got married two weeks ago.  Good thing my nappy eyelashes reject mascara...not a doggone dry eye in the place.

The 'motional bride
Bride and Groom secret clabber jabber
Happiness (sorry for the blur)

This intimate shindig had a color scheme of blue and silver...blue and silver...the Amazon has one blue item in each clothing category none of which are appropriate (read: help her to avoid a beat down from mothers and siblings).  On I went to Macy's.  Found a dress, I swear I did. Unfortunately, the dress never made it's way into my heart so after 3 hours of sleep and a mad dash to Mood, Macy's and Ashley Stewart, I sewed up this darling doodad of a skirt in 30 minutes (Domino's ain't got JACK on me).

Please enjoy:

I felt like a statue--LOVED IT

Just a little 'tude
My ride or die BFF (the lovely bride's sister from the same mother)
My babies/nieces/goddaughters loves of my life (had to hold those heifers down for a pic)
  My favorite accessory...Dishy isn't he?

Don't know what kind of face I was making but I still love the pic...

Can you tell how much we like to cuddle??

Good times for us all. :)

DEETS:

MATERIAL: blue silk shantung
TEE: Calvin Klein's Men's collection
Belt/jewelry: Ashley Stewart

Busy, busy, BUSY bee I am.  Lots to catch up on.  Weddings, sewing fits, launches. Where to start???!?!?!

I'll go easy for now.  One of my aces, Ms. Abigail Ekue of www.abigailekue.com has launched a wonderful t-shirt line that a lot of us natural beauties can WELL understand...

"DON'T PET THE FRO!"(ignore the WWE belt...I couldn't resist my Peggy Bundy look)

Yes my friends...the Amazon is not crazy.  While I have lovely locs, I am very familiar with this frame of mind.  Everyone wants to TOUCH THE HAIR!  It's not a hamster, it's not velvet...it's H-A-I-R.  Abbie sums it up best...whether or not you can read the letters:
At least not without asking first...

Quick post today! A million years ago (during my baby Amazon days), I bought lovely fabric from fabric.com (which I subsequently jacked up---who makes a silk baby-doll dress for a plus size diva in 2003?? the decisions we make in youth).  Anywhoo...I bought lovely fabric from fabric.com and received 500 buttons.

You heard me 500 BUTTONS:

Not my buttons but close enough...

How beautiful is this???!?!?!?!??!

A bit of Elastic and 350 out of my 500 buttons....STAY TUNED!
